Focus on Four

Focus on Four Prepares Kids for Kindergarten

What is Focus on Four? It’s four hours of FREE high-quality education for four-year-olds. During the summer before Kindergarten, the program picks up where Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) leaves off. This is important for children whose families are unable to afford quality summer camps and enrichment programs. Through Focus on Four, we can ensure children from low-income families don’t begin Kindergarten at a disadvantage.
Specifically, Focus on Four helps by focusing on:

Literacy and language development

Hands-on learning opportunities

Notably, even children who attend VPK lose previously acquired skills over the summer months. In fact, teachers call it the “summer slide.” By preventing the summer slide, students start Kindergarten better prepared. In fact, we’re laying the foundation for success throughout their first years of elementary school.

Why We Need Your Support

Focus on Four is provided at no cost to families in need. So, by making a donation to Focus on Four, you could help us enroll more students. Together, we can change a child’s life in just one summer!
